With the era of High Definition upon us, you can expect the big guns of the GPU market to tailor their cards to this ever evolving market. With the advances in digital entertainment, internet speeds, and the consumer driven demand for higher quality, it’s only natural to expect a range of GPUs best suited to delivering the stunning visuals so many of us now take for granted.
Nvidia decided that a new budget card for the likes of Blu-ray, HD media streaming, and casual gaming was necessary in today’s climate, thus the Geforce GT 220 was born.
The GT 220 boasts full Windows 7 compatibility allowing users to make use of drag and drop video conversion as well as a full range of CUDA applications, putting the 48 CUDA cores to good use by providing the computer with the extra horsepower needed to speed up video editing, video conversion and upscaling.
Thankfully Nvidia has seen the light and added an HDMI port to the GT 220, offering support for fully uncompressed LPCM 7.1 audio allowing user’s to experience the immersive atmosphere high definition audio delivers. Not stopping there they have added Direct X 10.1 and moved to a 40nm manufacturing process, greatly reducing power consumption to around 7W in idle mode.
The Zotac Geforce GT 220 already sounds like an exciting proposition, so read on to find out how the card performs when put under the spotlight.
